Re-granulate

A re-granulate is produced by the mechanical and thermal treatment, the granulation, of ground stock and, like the primary granulate, can be used in the production of plastic products. In the process, the ground material is heated until it melts.
The quality of the end product can be influenced by the addition of various additives, which can improve both the flow properties and the impact resistance. This process is enormously important as the re-granulate is to be reused as starting material and the qualitative requirements of secondary plastics are similar to those of the primary plastics.

The re-granulate is subjected to various tests before it is sold and fed into production. The result of the quality tests is usually recorded for each batch in order to prove the properties of the re-granulate.
